Fin Whale Tow, Pt. Loma
These photographs depict a deceased fin whale that washed to shore in San Diego being towed to a different location by local authorities. The fin whale is the second largest creature in the world (after the blue whale) and can reach sizes of up to 88 feet. It is also an endangered species. It was determined that this whale was killed by a boat's prop strike, a common human-created problem for whales of all kinds.
